GLOBAL GEOCOSMIC & WEATHER REPORT

International Edition | October 20–21, 2026

Worldwide monitoring of solar activity, geomagnetic disturbances, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, typhoons, and extreme weather.

1. Global solar and geomagnetic activity

G1 geomagnetic storm forecast

NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center forecast minor G1 geomagnetic storm conditions for October 20, associated with a high-speed solar-wind stream from a coronal hole.

Forecast maximum planetary Kp index

02.254.56.759Oct 20Oct 21Oct 22

G1 storm conditions generally begin around Kp 5. Forecast values are subject to revision.

Additional NOAA forecasts indicate:

  • A 25% daily probability of R1–R2 radio blackouts through October 22.

  • A 5% daily probability of an S1 or stronger solar-radiation storm.

  • Potential renewed G1 geomagnetic disturbances around October 31–November 1.

  • Elevated energetic-electron flux around geosynchronous orbit during October 23–27 and November 1–4.

International implications: Increased geomagnetic activity can affect satellites, high-frequency radio communications, polar aviation, GPS accuracy, and electrical transmission systems at higher latitudes.

Official monitoring: NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center.

2. Worldwide volcanic activity

Latest reported USGS alert classifications, October 20

Volcano Region Alert
Great Sitkin Alaska, North Pacific
Orange / Watch
Shishaldin Alaska, North Pacific Yellow / Advisory
Kīlauea Hawaiian Islands Yellow / Advisory
Ahyi Seamount Mariana Islands, Western Pacific Yellow / Advisory

Kīlauea experienced elevated activity on October 17, prompting an Orange/Watch notice before the alert level returned to Yellow/Advisory.

These observations are significant for aviation, local populations, and geological monitoring. However, elevated alert levels do not necessarily mean that a major eruption is imminent.

For broader international coverage, additional volcanic monitoring should include Iceland, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Kamchatka, and Central and South America.

3. Global earthquake activity

Major seismic zones requiring continuous international attention include the Pacific Ring of Fire, the Mediterranean–Himalayan belt, the Indonesian archipelago, and the East African Rift.

A verified October 20–21 global earthquake tally has not been established for this edition. Accordingly, no specific earthquake magnitudes, casualties, or new disaster events are being claimed.

The principal indicators worth monitoring are earthquake magnitude, depth, location, tsunami potential, and changes in seismic activity near populated areas.

Atlantic basin

As of NOAA’s October 20 advisory, no active Atlantic tropical cyclones were reported.

Eastern and Central Pacific

Tropical Storm Trudy weakened to a remnant low, with its final advisory issued October 19. No active Central Pacific tropical cyclones were reported at the time.

Western Pacific and Indian Ocean

These basins remain important components of the international disaster watch. Current storm positions and intensities have not been independently verified for this edition.

Official sources include the National Hurricane Center and Japan Meteorological Agency.

5. Worldwide extreme-weather monitoring

The international newsletter should prioritize developments with substantial humanitarian, agricultural, infrastructure, or economic consequences.

Region Principal hazards to monitor
Europe Windstorms, flooding, early cold outbreaks
South and Southeast Asia Monsoon flooding, tropical cyclones
East Asia Typhoons, heavy rainfall, seismic hazards
Africa Drought, flooding, agricultural disruption
South America Flooding, drought, extreme heat
North America Major storms, wildfires, cold outbreaks
Australia and Oceania Bushfire conditions, cyclones, extreme heat

These are regional monitoring priorities, not claims that each event is currently occurring.

6. Geocosmic outlook: October 20–November 3

  1. October 20

Minor G1 geomagnetic storm conditions forecast.

  2. October 21–22

Continued monitoring for radio blackouts and unsettled geomagnetic activity.

  3. October 23–27

Elevated energetic-electron flux forecast near geosynchronous orbit.

  4. October 31–November 1

    Possible renewed G1 geomagnetic disturbance.

  5. November 1–3

    Continued elevated energetic-electron flux potential.

7. Planetary alignments, Earth changes and geocosmic theories

There is longstanding interest in whether solar activity, lunar cycles, planetary alignments, and variations in Earth’s magnetic field influence seismic activity, weather patterns, or financial markets.

These questions deserve careful distinction:

  • Established: Solar disturbances can affect Earth’s magnetosphere, communications, satellites, and power infrastructure.

  • Under investigation: Possible statistical relationships between space weather and certain atmospheric or geophysical processes.

  • Unproven: Reliable earthquake or volcanic-eruption prediction from planetary alignments, lunar cycles, or geomagnetic disturbances.

  • Financial markets: Proposed relationships between planetary cycles, solar activity, and market turning points require rigorous historical testing.

International editorial outlook

The principal near-term geocosmic development is the forecast of minor geomagnetic storm activity, with another potential disturbance around the beginning of November.

Several volcanic systems remain under elevated surveillance, while earthquake and tropical-cyclone activity require ongoing verification across all major global regions.

Editorial conclusion: The current evidence supports heightened monitoring of space weather and selected volcanic systems, but does not establish an imminent worldwide geophysical catastrophe.
