The UAP/UFO story has accelerated sharply in May 2026. Here’s the current status:

What’s happening now

The 2nd tranche of U.S. government UAP/UFO files was released on May 22, 2026, following the initial release on May 8. According to the Pentagon, the second release included approximately 222 additional documents, along with 51 videos, audio recordings, witness statements, and historical reports.

Some of the most-discussed items include:

  • Reports of green orbs, discs, and fireballs observed near military facilities in the late 1940s.

  • New military videos from the Middle East showing unidentified objects exhibiting unusual flight characteristics.

  • First-hand testimony from military and intelligence personnel describing encounters with orange glowing orbs, including reports that some objects appeared to maneuver near aircraft.

  • Additional Apollo-era material, including astronaut discussions of unexplained lights seen during lunar missions.

The Pentagon and the government’s UAP investigation office continue to state that the released material does not constitute proof of extraterrestrial technology or alien life, although many cases remain officially unexplained due to insufficient data.

A third tranche has already been announced and is expected to be released in the near future.
