✅ What just happened (April 2026)
- The U.S. Department of Justice + DEA have partially rescheduled cannabis to Schedule III
- Effective late April 2026, the following are now Schedule III:
- FDA-approved cannabis drugs
- State-licensed medical marijuana products
👉 This is the first real federal change in decades.
⚠️ But it’s NOT full rescheduling yet
- Recreational (adult-use) cannabis is STILL Schedule I
- The government is running a second phase process:
- DEA hearing begins June 29, 2026
- Goal: decide whether ALL cannabis moves to Schedule III
👉 Bottom line:
We are in a “split system” right now.
